Today, due to advances in medical treatment and drug therapies, more HIV positive people are living longer, more productive and fulfilling lives than ever before. Success with their treatments means many people are now keen and well enough to consider returning to work and society.
BGF’s Positive Futures program and Phoenix Workshops are designed for people living with HIV who want to embrace positive change in their lives. We provide practical assistance, information, advice and support on how to return to paid work, undertake study or use volunteer work as a way of re-engaging with the community and rebuilding self esteem.
Find out more about our vocational guidance programs and workshops in the menu bar to the right.
For more information about these services, please contact BGF on (02) 9283 8666 or email bgf@bgf.org.au
We can help you re-engage with society by making you aware of the work, study or volunteer options open to you. This might be helping you enrol in TAFE, University or Community College courses or, if you want to return to work, assisting with resumé preparation and interview skills. I can also provide information on how returning to work or study may impact on your Centrelink benefits.
It’s important to have somewhere people living with HIV can come that is absolutely non judgemental and that understands all the socio-economic issues surrounding HIV.
We can work holistically with you and be very focused on your needs. We are able to help you take a longer term approach and break your goals down into manageable steps. As a result, we see some excellent results.
